You Know I Like My Chicken Fried...

Last night we went to Wild Bills one of the big country bars in town to see the Zac Brown Band.  I LOVE the Zac Brown Band.  I have been seeing them play for about three years now.  The first time I saw them, they were playing in a very small restaurant about an hour away from Atlanta.  I liked their music immediatly and bought their CD that night.  I found out a few months later that Zac played at a bar in Atlanta on Thursday nights and got a group together to see him play. EVERYONE thought he was great.  After that we saw Zac as often as we could.  I guess I'm not the only one who liked him because as time went on the band started traveling more and more.  The band started touring and was opening for big names like Sugar Land.  We saw him whenever possible, and even saw him this summer in South Carolina and Alabama.  Recently his hit song "Chicken Fried" toped the country charts at #1!!!  It is so fun to see him getting so popular.  To check out the band or hear some of their music click:                    http://www.myspace.com/zacbrownband

A Crazy Last Day Of The Year

Yesterday was a crazy end to 2008.  After I got off work yesterday I was heading towards my friend Carrie's so we could do our weekly volunteer work with the Adopt a Kitties.  I pulled out of the parking deck at work and drove a couple of miles down the road.  All of a sudden my car alarm started going off...WHILE I WAS DRIVING!  I pulled off the road onto a side street but as soon as I did the car alarm stopped.  Lovely.  I pulled back on the road and got on the highway and the car alarm started going off AGAIN!  Then again and again.  I called Miles and was trying to figure out what to do.  To be honest I was worried somebody would shoot me cause they thought I was honking non stop at them.  The car is continuing to honk and I can't hear Miles over the horn so I decided to pull off to the side of the road and try to turn the car off and then restart it.  For anyone who doesn't know, this is apparently NOT the correct thing to do.  My car died on the side of the highway!  I tried and tried but I could not get the car to start.  My car is a 2004 Toyota Rav-4 and I couldn't believe it stranded me on the side of the road like that.  I later found of that if the car alarm is going off, the car won't drive as a safety mechanism to prevent the car from being stolen.  Miles had to come rescue me on the side of the interstate and we had to get the car towed to the Toyota dealership.  I knew the tow truck would take a while to get to us and Carrie and I had to get to Pet Smart before the store closed to take care of the kitties, so I called and asked her if she could come get me.  In her hurry to rescue me however she got pulled over!!!  Thankfully the cop let her go with only a warning after she told him she was hurrying to rescue her friend who was stranded on the side of the road.  We were able to get the car towed and get to the adopt a kitties on time before the stored closed.  As if that wasn't enough excitement for the day, Miles, Carrie and I went out to eat later that evening and then went to a small bar to hear a band play.  I didn't drink at all because I know the cops are always out on New Years Eve as we saw earlier in the day.  We left the bar at about 11:15 to beat all the drunks home.  I was driving Miles car, our new Honda Pilot that is only about a month old.  We were almost home when I GOT PULLED OVER!!!  I wasn't even speeding at all and definitely had not been drinking.  Apprently I since I am not to familiar with the new car I only had my front lights on and not my tail lights, which is why I got pulled over.  The police man let me go after telling me to turn my lights on and be careful.  We finally made it home safe and sound and enjoyed welcoming in the New Year while playing Mario Kart Wii on the couch.  What a crazy way to end 2008!
